At Onwards and Up, we’re thrilled to once again be supporting the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s flagship Shine programme. A brilliant launchpad for early-career jewellery and silversmithing designer-makers. Shine 2025 is all about nurturing talented creatives in their first five years of business, giving them the expert tools and confidence to present, sell, and showcase their collections like seasoned pros, both online and on the real-life stage.
A Springboard for Makers: What Goldsmiths' Shine Offers
This great free, four-month journey brings together up to 10 promising makers. Providing them with a blend of live webinars, flexible self-paced modules, and hands-on assignments. Shine 2025 is designed to help participants master everything from storytelling and professional photography, to building selling strategies and prepping collections for both digital and live events. The programme culminates in a buzzing, in-person pop-up event at the Goldsmiths’ Centre in September 2025. This is supported Shine 2025 online, in the Goldsmiths’ Shop Talent e-commerce store.
Onwards and Up: Digital Know-how and Practical Support
We’re extremely proud to be a delivery partner for Shine 2025, working alongside the Goldsmiths’ team to help designer-makers raise their game in the digital world. Our role has been hands-on and personal. We deliver engaging workshops focused on professionalising your online presence. This is supported with one-to-one digital audits, providing actionable feedback and clear recommendations. Each participant gets dedicated follow-up meetings with us, where we chat through their business, set priorities, and map out a plan for growth. It’s all about building confidence and leaving you with practical steps you can take straight away.
A Celebration of Fresh Talent: The Shine 2025 Showcase
The annual Shine showcase is always a highlight in the jewellery calendar. This year, it launches on 17 September 2025 at the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s beautiful exhibition space in London. The big opening night is a one-off celebration, perfect for jewellery lovers, collectors, and design enthusiasts to meet the makers, hear their stories, and shop unique pieces. The collections will be on display and available to buy until 22 December 2025, both in person and online.
Could You Be Part of Shine 2026?
If you’re a designer, maker, jeweller, or silversmith in your first five years of business, Shine could be your chance to take things to the next level. To apply, you’ll need a brand-new collection ready to present, a commitment to complete the training programme, a passion for growing your business, and to be based in the UK.
What makes a Shine-worthy collection? Goldsmiths are looking for work that tells a compelling story through design and materials, is well-made and beautifully finished, priced and presented appropriately, and ready to sell via the Goldsmiths’ Centre Shop Talent online platform. Applications are reviewed anonymously by an expert panel, including guest judges, former Shine participants, and the Goldsmiths’ Centre team.
